Artist statement and project description

For this series I have used appropriated photographs of abandoned houses and furniture from all over the world. I am hoping that these images of actual physical houses and furniture will come to act as a metaphor for issues of home, family, immigration/migration and displacement. As these buildings have been abandoned, I have taken them out of their previous environment, and attempted to reconstruct them into a new landscape, which in my own imagination might show partly what happened to them. These works reminisce of natural disasters, turmoil and things falling apart, which I hope will bring to mind questions such as what does the word home really mean? What makes a home?
